PLAB Part 1 Examination Information

The PLAB Part 1 exam is designed to test the knowledge, skills and attitudes relating to conditions commonly seen by doctors entering into the second year of training (first year SHOs).
Four specific skill areas are tested
- diagnosis
- investigations
- management / treatment
- the context of clinical practice
The questions used cover a broad clinical base including the following topics
- blood and lymphatic system
- cardiovascular system
- dermatology
- digestive system
- ENT
- opthalmology
- homeostasis
- infectious disease
- life threatening disease management
- mental health
- musculoskeletal system
- neurology
- paediatrics
- renal system
- obstetrics & gynaecology
